Art Lebedev's OLED Keyboard: The Ultra customizable keyboard

Now, this isn't exactly new, nor is it HD, I think it has been available for over a year and in the works for a few more. But... it is another of OLED technology available today.

It is a keyboard with 113 OLED keys. Each key is basically an OLED colour screen that can be configured to almost anything you choose.

Imagine, a keyboard that can switch between QWERTY and DVORAK (or a laptop that supports both) instantly. There are also layouts for Quake and Photoshop. It could also make learning to play various games easier, as you can basically have the keyboard set up so as to graphically show what that key does. And obviously, it could support a number of languages.

Oh, and I'll add that each key supports a frame rate of 10fps, has a resolution of 48x48 pixels and supports 65536 colours.

Of course, like all OLED technology available these days, it doesn't come cheap. It runs about US$1800. For a keyboard. In August 2008.

Art Lebedev Studio's website for the Optimus OLED Keyboard is here.

Here's a picture of their Optimus OLED keyboard:

Supposedly they're working on a smooth-surface tactile-feedback-only keyboard too. I bet it'll be years away, but even this thing looks cool (but I don't have that kind of money to spare at the moment!).
